  • Brush fire in La Verne

    A brushfire started at approximately 5pm in La Verne near Webb Canyon. The fire has burned 50-60 acres and La County Fire crews will be moping up hot spots throughout the night and into tomorrow. A command post is being set up at Taylor Hall which is anticipated to be open until 5pm Monday. The next scheduled update is scheduled for 8pm this evening. Additional information will be posted following the briefing.

  • Pomona College Donates 463 Acres of Wilderness to the City

    Pomona College will gift a total of 463 acres of wilderness to the City of Claremont as announced at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 11. Evey Canyon and three Padua Hills parcels will be incorporated to Claremont Hills Wilderness Park (CHWP), expanding the park to nearly 2,500 acres. According to the memorandum of understanding (MOU), the land will be preserved in its undeveloped state and remain available to the members of the public for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and other passive recreational uses. There will be no purchase costs to the City of Claremont, but there will be administrative costs associated with the transfer.

  • Pooch Park Closure

    The Pooch Park is currently closed for a renovation project. The Pooch Park Renovation Project is anticipated to take about five months and the park is scheduled to re-open in December 2017.
