CITY MANAGER’S MESSAGE
Last week, the City’s legal team and staff were in Los Angeles Superior Court for a hearing on Golden State Water Company’s request for reimbursement of legal fees. The Honorable Richard L. Fruin issued a final ruling granting Golden State Water Company over $7.6 million in reimbursement of its claimed litigation expenses and costs related to the City’s eminent domain lawsuit to acquire the Claremont Water System. The City anticipates filing a Notice of Appeal on the award of litigation expenses.
This week, the City of Claremont was named a 2016 Tree City USA in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. Claremont’s commitment to trees has earned it the Tree City USA certification for 31 straight years. Read more in the Community Services Section.
Next week, staff will be marking sidewalks on Indian Hill Boulevard with paint to delineate areas that need repair or replacement. Last year, the City employed a contractor to survey the condition of the sidewalks throughout the community and a number of locations were identified in need of repair.
