City Manager's Weekly Update - 5/25/17
CITY MANAGER’S MESSAGE
Last week, Claremont Police commemorated National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. National Police Week is a collaborative effort of many organizations dedicated to honoring America's law enforcement community.
This week, construction began on the public improvements next to the D.R. Horton development, located on the southeast corner of Mountain Avenue and Base Line Road. This work includes the undergrounding of the existing overhead electrical lines along Base Line Road. The construction is scheduled to continue through Thursday, June 8. Additional improvements within the right-of-way will begin at the conclusion of the undergrounding. During this construction, drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians are directed to follow the appropriate construction signs.
Next week, join the City of Claremont, American Legion Keith Powell Post 78, and the Friends of Oak Park Cemetery at the annual Memorial Day Services to commemorate the men and women who have lost their lives in military service. The services will be on Monday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Park Cemetery (410 Sycamore Avenue). Read more in the Human Services Section.
