City Manager's Weekly Update - 7/20/17
CITY MANAGER’S MESSAGE
Last week, the City Council approved a donation of 463 acres of land from Pomona College for inclusion into the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park. The land will be designated as open space and will remain available to the members of the public for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and other passive recreational uses. With the donation, the Wilderness Park area will encompass approximately 2,500 acres.
This week, the annual summertime tradition continues as the Claremont Police Department invites you to bring your friends and family to watch a movie under the stars in your neighborhood park. The summer movie series continues on Thursday, July 20 at Lewis Park with the movie, Moana. Bring some popcorn and a blanket and join us for a great night of family fun! The movie will begin at dusk (approximately 8:00 p.m.) and is rated PG.
Next week, the City will be hosting an open house with representatives from Southern California Edison (SCE) on Wednesday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Padua Room at the Alexander Hughes Center. If you want to know more about SCE programs or ask questions about anything in general, we invite you to attend this workshop. Representatives will be available to discuss issues such as tree trimming practices, grid reliability, energy efficiency programs, available rebates, electromagnetic field (EMF) issues, and downed power line safety.
