    New Sanitation Vehicles will replace existing trucks that have exceeded their useful life.


  • Council Votes Against Gold Line Bridge

    On July 26, 2016 the City Council reviewed two design concepts for the bridge. Both designs featured wider openings for traffic and pedestrian walkways then originally proposed. The cost of constructing a bridge with a wider opening was an estimated $5-6 million that the City would be responsible for paying. The Council voted 4-1 to keep the crossing at street level citing the lack of City-funding and community support for the bridge.

  • New Wheeler Park Playground Equipment

    The new play equipment at Wheeler Park Playground Project (626) Vista Drive) has been installed. The southern playground was updated with a new play structure designed to accommodate children ages 2-12. The new equipment was selected through a community input process involving Wheeler Park neighbors and Claremont After School Program (CLASP) participants.

  • Meadow Park Housing Development Stoppage

    William Lyon Homes, the developer of the Meadow Park project at the southeast corner of Towne and Foothill, has stopped construction while they evaluate the market. The developer anticipates making a decision on how they want to move forward by June. In the meantime, City staff is monitoring the property closely and will be making sure that it continues to be maintained. The sales office parking lot has been closed off and the property has been secured. The City will continue to provide updates on this project as plans progress.

  • Claremont Wins "Coolest California City" Title

    The results of the CoolCalifornia Challenge are now official, and Claremont has secured first place and the title of “Coolest California City”! More than 500 Claremont households participated, earning over two million points—nearly twice as many as our nearest competitor, Long Beach. Over $51,000 in prize money will be awarded to Sustainable Claremont, to implement sustainability programs in the Claremont community.

  • 2016 CHWP Parking Permits Now Available

    The 2016 Wilderness Park parking permits are now available at City Hall and the Alexander Hughes Community Center during regular business hours. As a reminder, all 2013-15 Resident Parking Permits expired January 1, 2016. Residents needing a Resident Permit for 2016-18 must reapply for a permit.

    Final Draft CHWP Master Plan Released

    In July, the City of Claremont and MIG Consulting released the Draft Claremont Hills Wilderness Park Master Plan. Following the release of the Draft Plan, the City held a Community Workshop to gather input and comments from the public on the Draft Plan recommendations. City staff used the feedback received from the Community Meeting to make revisions to the recommendations. These revised recommendations have been included in the Final Draft Master Plan, which released January 14, 2016.


  • Public Restrooms to Close at Claremont Depot

    The Historic Claremont Depot has been leased to the Claremont Museum of Art. Effective, February 19, 2016, restrooms in the facility will be available for museum patrons only.

  • Claremont Housing Successor Annual Report

    California Health and Safety Code Section 34176.1(f) requires the City to prepare an annual report of the activities of the City of Claremont in its capacity as the Successor to the former Claremont Redevelopment Agency’s Housing Fund. The report contains a description of all expenditures from the Housing Fund during the 2014-15 fiscal year.

    Claremont Art Showcase

    The City of Claremont Human Services Department will host the first Claremont Art Showcase from August 19, 2015 through November 16, 2015 at the Alexander Hughes Community Center. The exhibit features works by local artists Opoku Acheampong, Sandy Garcia, Kenneth Johnson, Jerry Owens, Mervyn Seldon, Tom Skelly, Wendy Smith, Jeanne Steffan and Guan Zhi.
