The Records Unit is responsible for the storage, retrieval and management of all official records within the Police Department. Four full-time civilian Records Clerks and three part time Police Aides perform these duties as well as provide customer service to the public at the front counter.
These are the people you talk to when you first walk in to the Police Department lobby. The unit also handles a variety of support services to the entire department such as: accepting bail for citations and arrest warrants, coordinating administrative review hearings, and performing matron duties when female prisoners are brought into the jail.
They handle the bulk of the routine telephone inquiries and provide back-up for the dispatchers by answering overflow 911 emergency calls as well as providing temporary clerical relief for other positions. This unit is vital to providing information to the thousands of customers who request various documents each year.
The Claremont Police Department provides Live Scan fingerprinting services during specified days/times by appointment only. A Live Scan fingerprinting fee will be charged for the service (refer to the fingerprinting fees listed in the Police Service Fees). Depending on the reason for the fingerprinting, additional Department of Justice and FBI fees may be applicable.

There are various laws governing the release of information, including the California Public Records Act and the California Government Code. In general terms, if you have been the victim of a crime, were involved in a traffic collision, or have some other involvement in an incident resulting in a police report, you could be eligible to obtain a copy of that report.
To inquire about obtaining a copy of a police report, contact the Records Bureau at (909) 399-5411, or in person at:

The Claremont City Council authorized the collection of fees from users of certain non-essential police services that are not directly related with the protection of life and property. The fees are designed to provide cost recovery for these non-emergency services. Fees are based upon formulas approved by Council, and are adjusted every July, or when there is a significant change in a cost factor. Below are links to the fees for service and the Council Resolution adopting the formulas.
