Transit Services

A comprehensive dial-a-ride program is available to residents that include two general public services for travel within City limits and a third service specifically for senior citizens and disabled individuals for travel outside City limits. These services are briefly described below. Several public transportation providers also serve Claremont, including Foothill Transit and Metrolink.

Dial-a-Ride

This is a curb-to-curb, immediate response, taxicab service for the Claremont general public that provides transportation within City limits and specified destinations outside of Claremont (e.g. Pomona Valley Medical Center, the courthouse and Social Security offices in Pomona, as well as the Montclair Plaza and Montclair TransCenter).

This service is available to all Claremont residents from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturdays. Claremont Dial-a-Ride is also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for seniors, disabled persons and youth under the age of sixteen. To make a reservation, call 623-0183.

Get About

This service provides transportation to registered senior citizens (age 60 and older) and disabled persons of any age. Riders can travel to any destination within the four cities Get About serves: Claremont, La Verne, Pomona and San Dimas, and to selected destinations in adjacent areas (e.g. Montclair Plaza).

The hours of operation for Get About are 6:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and 8:30 am to 3:00 pm on Sundays. Get About does not provide services on Saturdays and on six public holidays. To make a reservation on Get About, call 596-5964.

Get About is now offering two new services for disabled persons:
The "Ready Now" service allows rides to be scheduled as early as 45 minutes before pick-up. Click here for more information.

The "One Step Over the Line" service allows disabled persons to travel to specific areas in San Bernadino County. Click here for more information.

Group Van Service

Group Van Service: This transportation is offered by advance-reservation to groups of six or more individuals traveling to the same destination. Group transportation is available within City limits, including Claremont Unified School District schools via van or bus. These services are available to all Claremont residents from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturdays. To make advance reservations, call 865-5184.

The Pomona Valley Transportation Authority

The Pomona Valley Transportation Authority (PVTA), which is a joint powers authority that consists of four cities: Claremont, La Verne, Pomona and San Dimas is responsible for administering the three dial-a-ride services described above.

If you have a problem using the Dial-a-Ride, Group Van Service, or Get About services and/or are unable to contact the reservation numbers, please call PVTA at 596-7664 or you can call the City's Community Services Department at 399-5431.
