The Community Development Department will be holding an environmental scoping meeting on a recently proposed project at the northwest corner of Monte Vista Avenue and Foothill Boulevard Project, called "The Commons." The purpose of this meeting is to gather input from the community on environmental impacts to study during the review of the project. The project consists of approximately 6.7 acres in Claremont, and 3.0 acres in Upland, and the applicant is proposing to integrate two parcel areas into one cohesive master planned community with a Specific Plan in both Claremont and Upland.
The Commons project proposes to convert 9.7 acres of underutilized and vacant land at the entrance to the City of Claremont into a master planned, residential/Mixed-Use village. The project plans include a City gateway, park and open space, neighborhood-serving retail, and for-sale residential attached and detached housing. Claremont Commons is designed for a variety of homebuyers, including “age in place” buyers seeking ease and accessibility in later years, as well as attainable first time homebuyers. This master planned community would contain approximately 27 single-family detached homes, 68 townhomes, and 5,000 square feet of retail with ten flats above the retail.
