Passive areas of parks remain open to members of families that reside together who wish to get some fresh air and exercise. This does not mean gatherings are permitted. Sports fields and playgrounds remain closed. Restrooms, tennis courts, and pickleball courts are now open. Play is restricted to singles and social distancing must be maintained. Sharing equipment is discouraged.
Pooch Park is now open. The water fountains have been turned off, so visitors need to bring water.
Doggie bags will no longer be provided by the City at local parks. Doggie bag dispensers have been removed at the Pooch Park, Rancho San Jose Park, Thompson Creek Trail, Padua Avenue Park, and the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park. Park patrons will need to bring their own doggie bags. Please make sure to pick up after your dogs. Thank you for keeping the parks clean!
Sports Day Camps
Local groups with approval from the LA County Department of Public Health (DPH) began their Sports Day Camps this week. Claremont Stars Soccer is hosting day camps at Lewis Park and El Roble Intermediate School. Foothill Storm Soccer is hosting day camps at June Vail Park and Jaeger Park. These day camps may provide sports conditioning and skill building activities only. Scrimmaging, practice games, competitive games, or any type of group play is not permitted. Day camps are required to follow DPH protocols and guidelines to ensure appropriate physical distancing and infection control practices. The Human services Department will keep the community informed as other Claremont organizations work with the DPH to offer Day Camps. For more information, please contact Human Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Claremont is home to dozens of parks offering lush green belts, walking paths, play structures, and sports fields. Many residents enjoy using group picnic areas for family gatherings, birthdays, and celebrations. If you are thinking about reserving a picnic area, please review our reservation requirements and application.
